Taiwan names new central bank governor

The Taiwanese government appointed Yang Chin-long as governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Bloomberg News reported Feb. 1, citing cabinet spokesman Hsu Kuo-yung.

The move confirms an earlier Bloomberg report that Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen was in favor of appointing Yang as the central bank's next chief.

Yang has been a deputy governor of the central bank since 2008, the publication noted. He will replace Perng Fai-nan.
