Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz on May 17 appointed new leadership at its U.S., China and Russia operations.

The passenger-car maker appointed Nicholas Speeks as CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA LLC and head of sales NAFTA, Mercedes-Benz Cars. Speeks, who previously served as head of sales in China, will replace Dietmar Exler, who is leaving the company.

Speeks will be replaced by Jan Madeja as head of the Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service, the carmaker's sales company in China.

Madeja is currently serving as CEO of Mercedes-Benz Russia. Holger Suffel will be appointed CEO of Russian operations.

Suffel, who previously took charge of Daimler's global services and parts operations, will be head of sales in Russia.

The appointments will take effect Sept. 1.
