Lowe's promotes executive to COO

Lowe's Cos. Inc. on Nov. 21 announced the appointment of Richard Maltsbarger as COO, effective Feb. 3, 2018.

Maltsbarger currently serves as the home improvement retailer's chief development officer and president, international. He will succeed Rick Damron, who has been COO since 2012 and plans to retire after 36 years total with the Mooresville, N.C., company.

Maltsbarger will be responsible for delivering omnichannel experiences to customers and oversee areas including store operations, supply chain, pro and services.

He will continue to report to Lowe's Chairman and CEO Robert Niblock.
