Italian exports increased 0.5% in October in seasonally adjusted terms compared to the previous month and imports climbed by 2.6% over the same period, the country's statistical institute reported.
September exports dropped 0.7% while imports declined by 4.4% in the same month, the National Institute for Statistics said.
Compared to the same month last year, exports in October 2017 increased by 11.3% while imports rose by 10.4%.
Exports to EU countries jumped 2.8% in October while exports to countries outside the bloc declined by 2.4%. Imports from EU countries gained 3.2% while imports from non-EU countries increased by 1.7% in the same month.
A separate statistical release showed October construction output in Italy growing by 0.4% compared with September. Year over year, production rose by 3.2%.
