Select Medical Corp. formed two joint ventures in San Diego with UC San Diego Health and Vibra Healthcare LLC.

One JV will operate a critical illness recovery hospital. For this joint venture, Vibra Healthcare contributed Vibra Hospital of San Diego, maintaining majority ownership. Select Medical will operate the hospital, which is renaming to Select Specialty Hospital – San Diego.

The other joint venture will operate a 42-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, expected to open in 2019. Select Medical will be the joint venture's majority owner.
