EDP Renewables secures 50-MW power contract for Illinois wind farm

EDP Renewables North America secured a long-term power purchase agreement for 50 MW of electricity from the planned 302-MW Broadlands wind farm in Douglas County, Ill. The unnamed buyer is an energy company.

With this agreement contract, the EDP Renováveis subsidiary has now contracted 200 MW of Broadlands capacity. The company previously signed two separate long-term agreements for 150 MW of electricity.

To date, EDP Renewables has contracted 2,200 MW of capacity additions in the U.S., exceeding its initial goal of 1,800 MW in long-term contracts for projects to be installed between 2016 and 2020.

EDP Renováveis is a subsidiary of EDP - Energias de Portugal SA.
