Kia Motors America Inc., the U.S. arm of South Korean carmaker Kia Motors Corp., will recall a total of 30,168 Kia Telluride mid-sized SUVs with defective seat belts, according to documents from the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The recall covers certain 2020 Telluride vehicles whose seat belts may not tightly secure a child restraint system in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
The vehicles were produced between Jan. 9 and Aug. 5.
Kia will start recalling the affected vehicles Aug. 30. Dealers will inspect the cars and replace the defective components for free.
The latest wave of recalls follows Kia's decision to pull 11,423 Optima vehicles with braking issues.
