Moldovan central bank maintains key rate

The central bank of Moldova on Sept. 4 maintained its key policy rate at 6.5% and noted that some inflation gauges are in line with August forecasts.

"[P]rices for regulated goods and services, the core inflation and fuel prices are in line with the anticipated values within the forecasting round published in August," Banca Nationala a Moldovei said.

The central bank also maintained the overnight loans rate at 9.5%, the overnight deposits rate at 3.5%, and the required reserves ratio of attracted funds in freely convertible currency at 14.0%.

The bank said it increased the required reserves ratio attracted in Moldovan lei and in nonconvertible currency by 2.5 percentage points to 42.5% to "sterilize" excess liquidity.
