Don Quijote Holdings fiscal Q2 profit climbs 17.7% YOY

Don Quijote Holdings Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, came to ¥46.59 per share, a gain of 17.3% from ¥39.72 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥7.35 billion, a gain of 17.7% from ¥6.24 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 4.1% from 4.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 13.7% on an annual basis to ¥178.36 billion from ¥156.81 billion, and total operating expenses grew 12.9% on an annual basis to ¥165.41 billion from ¥146.44 billion.

Reported net income rose 14.3% from the prior-year period to ¥7.55 billion, or ¥47.87 per share, from ¥6.61 billion, or ¥42.03 per share.

As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
