Chinese conglomerate HNA Group Co. Ltd. and e-commerce giant JD.com Inc. have entered a multi-industry partnership to build a global logistics network for e-commerce, the Nikkei Asian Review reported March 30.
The companies will also jointly build a logistics center in the Shaanxi Province city of Xi'an in central China. Under the partnership, HNA and JD.com will cooperate on fields such as air freight, refrigerated shipping, international e-commerce, bricks-and-mortar retail, finance and technology to expand domestic and overseas shipping, the Nikkei reported.
HNA is also planning to sell its noncore assets and JD.com could buy those operations, according to the report. Meanwhile, JD reportedly is considering going public with its logistics unit.
