Cracker Barrel fiscal Q3 profit climbs 25.8% YOY

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended May 1 was $1.34 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.37 per share.

EPS rose 25.4% year over year from $1.07.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $32.2 million, an increase of 25.8% from $25.6 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 4.7% from 4.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 6.3% year over year to $683.7 million from $643.3 million, and total operating expenses grew 5.0% on an annual basis to $628.2 million from $598.1 million.

Reported net income increased 22.9% on an annual basis to $35.4 million, or $1.47 per share, from $28.8 million, or $1.20 per share.
