Grain Management buying majority stake in Hunter Communications

Private equity firm Grain Management LLC agreed to acquire a majority interest in Hunter Communications Inc., a regional provider of fiber connectivity, for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction, which is subject to customary regulatory approvals, is expected to close in the first quarter of 2020, according to an Aug. 20 news release. Hunter Communications provides high bandwidth data and voice service in southern Oregon and parts of northern California.

Grain Management, which is focused on investments in the global communications sector, is also acquiring a majority stake in Summit Broadband Inc., a provider of fiber optic-based telecom services in central and southwest Florida, as well as a majority stake in Ritter Communications Inc.

Bank Street Group LLC served as exclusive financial adviser and Perkins Coie LLP served as legal adviser to Hunter Communications in connection with the transaction. CoBank ACB is acting as sole financing arranger and Alston & Bird LLP served as legal counsel to Grain Management.
