Canadian Solar wins 30-MWp project in Japan's solar energy auction

Canadian Solar Inc. won a 30-MWp project in Japan's fourth solar energy auction.

The project is expected to begin operations in Maniwa City within Okayama prefecture by 2024. It will sell its output to Chugoku Power Electric Co. at 12 cents per kWh under a 20-year contract, according to an Oct. 22 news release.

Canadian Solar also recently acquired five contracted utility-scale solar projects totaling 20.5 MWp. These projects are expected to reach commercial operation in the 2020 to 2021 time frame.
