Japan Airlines fiscal Q3 profit climbs 6.1% YOY

Japan Airlines Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, came to ¥80.14 per share, an increase of 6.1% from ¥75.53 per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥29.05 billion, an increase of 6.1% from ¥27.39 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to 8.7% from 8.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue totaled ¥335.48 billion, compared with ¥338.62 billion in the year-earlier period, and total operating expenses fell year over year to ¥285.45 billion from ¥293.22 billion.

Reported net income rose from the prior-year period to ¥40.29 billion, or ¥111.14 per share, from ¥39.36 billion, or ¥108.57 per share.

As of Feb. 1, US$1 was equivalent to ¥120.99.
