Manchester Building Society told to pay Grant Thornton interim costs

A U.K. High Court allowed Manchester Building Society to appeal the May 2 decision that awarded the society £315,345 plus interest in damages it sought against its former auditor Grant Thornton UK LLP.

At the costs hearing, the court awarded additional interim costs to Grant Thornton; the amount payable will be calculated in the next few days.

The society had initially claimed £49 million in damages against Grant Thornton, accusing the auditor of negligence relating to its services between 2006 and 2013. It had expressed its disappointment with the May 2 court ruling.
