Report: Serbian power utility seeks contractors to build 66-MW wind farm

Serbian state-owned utility Elektroprivreda Srbije, or EPS, is seeking contractors for the construction of a planned 66-MW wind farm in Kostolac, eastern Serbia.

The project is set to cost €97 million, or $108 million, with German state-owned development bank KfW expected to provide an €80 million loan, Reuters reported Aug. 30.

EPS has invited pre-qualification bids for the construction of the wind farm as well as a substation, onsite infrastructure and delivery and installation of 20 wind turbines.

Serbia is targeting to have installed wind capacity of 500 MW by 2020. Currently, 70% of the country's energy comes from coal, while the remaining 30% produced through hydropower.

Interested bidders are expected to submit their expressions of interest by Oct. 1, Reuters said.
