Atlantic Broadband signed a definitive agreement to acquire Thames Valley Communications Inc., a broadband services company operating in southeastern Connecticut, for an undisclosed sum.

The transaction is expected to close within three months, subject to customary regulatory approvals, according to a Jan. 10 news release. The purchase of Thames Valley will add approximately 10,000 customers to Atlantic Broadband's operations in Connecticut.

Atlantic Broadband is a subsidiary of cable operator Cogeco Communications Inc.

Morgan Lewis LLP advised Atlantic Broadband as legal counsel. Thames Valley was advised by RBC Capital Markets as M&A adviser and Lowenstein Sandler LLP as legal counsel.
