Ormat completes its 1st-ever geothermal, solar hybrid plant in Nevada

Ormat Technologies Inc. on Aug. 5 said it achieved commercial operations of a 7-MWac solar project at its Tungsten Mountain power plant in Churchill County, Nev.

The Tungsten solar project marks the completion of the company's first-ever geothermal and solar hybrid project, Ormat said in a news release.

The electricity generated from the solar plant will be used to offset the equipment's energy use at the 37-MW Tungsten geothermal facility, which would increase the energy delivered by the project to Southern California Public Power Authority under a long-term power purchase agreement.
