PERILS' initial loss estimate from Storm Herwart at €252M

PERILS put its initial loss estimate for the insured property market from Storm Herwart at €252 million, based on loss data from affected insurers.

The extratropical cyclone, which mainly hit areas in Austria and Germany on Oct. 29, caused 11 fatalities in total. It also affected Denmark, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The agency said it will release an updated estimate Jan. 29, 2018, three months after the storm hit.
