SAIL chairman survives attack by unknown men

The chairman of Steel Authority of India Ltd., or SAIL, survived an assault by four unknown men who rammed his car as he was driving home, the company said Aug. 8.

The assailants used iron rods to assault Anil Kumar Chaudhary on his head, neck, knees and legs on the night of Aug. 7. The police captured two of the assailants. Chaudhary has already been discharged from the hospital, while his driver was unharmed.

SAIL said a police complaint has been filed in New Delhi. A police investigation is ongoing.

In an Aug. 8 Reuters report, Chaudhary suspected that the attack may have been related to the company's business dealings.
