Bridgestone COO to step down, successor named

Japanese tire maker Bridgestone Corp. said Dec. 13 that Kazuhisa Nishigai will step down as COO and chief technology officer, effective Dec. 31.

Akihiro Eto will replace Nishigai as COO from Jan. 1. Eto is CFO and executive vice president and heads the group strategy planning unit. Nishigai will remain on the corporation's board.

Naoki Hishinuma will succeed Eto as CFO while Masato Banno will succeed the former COO as chief technology officer on Jan. 1.

Bridgestone also appointed Shuichi Ishibashi and Gordon Knapp vice chairmen of the group, effective Jan. 1.
