Chuy's Holdings Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended March 29 came to 17 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 16 cents per share.
EPS increased 21.3% year over year from 14 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $2.8 million, an increase of 21.2% from $2.4 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 4.3% from 4.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew 19.4% year over year to $66.8 million from $56.0 million, and total operating expenses climbed 19.3% from the prior-year period to $62.2 million from $52.2 million.
Reported net income increased 18.6% year over year to $3.2 million, or 19 cents per share, from $2.7 million, or 16 cents per share.
