Apparel and accessories retailer Zara, owned by multinational fashion group Industria de Diseño Textil SA, is testing a new pickup machine for online orders called CleverFlex at a store in Spain, Business Insider reported Dec. 12, citing Cleveron, the technology company behind the new machine.
CleverFlex, like Wal-Mart Stores Inc.'s pickup towers, is a self-service kiosk that retrieves customers' online orders. Both CleverFlex and Wal-Mart's pickup towers were developed by Cleveron, according to the report.
The new pickup kiosk reportedly has a sleek, white exterior and a modular design that lets retailers adjust its height and width. It also holds about 4,000 packages, which is double the amount that Wal-Mart's machines can contain, the report said.
Cleveron CEO Andres Liinat reportedly told Business Insider that they are in talks with the fashion retailer to expand the technology to more stores.
