Kingsrose Mining Ltd. said Oct. 10 that it extended the life of its Talang Santo pit, part of the Way Linggo gold mine in Indonesia, to July 2020 from December 2019.
The decision was based on a detailed technical review, which incorporated the results of an earlier shallow drilling program, input from a consultant and updated economic factors.
Gold production from stockpiled ore at the mine will continue until September 2020. Production from the Talang Santo pit is estimated to be 16,400 ounces of gold for this financial year.
A deep diamond drilling program at Talang Santo is ongoing and half complete. The company will assess the results and will report by December.
Mining at the Way Linggo open pit resumed in July following a pit redesign in the wake of a wall failure, and operations at the processing plant continued in August. Mining at Way Linggo is scheduled to continue until December, as previously reported.
The previous underground mining at Way Linggo stopped at 175 meters, and there is strong potential for further mineralization below the previous underground mine, the company said, adding that drilling is planned in November to test below the current mine.
