7x Energy signs contract for 35-MW solar project in Texas

Solar developer 7x Energy Inc. entered into a multiyear power purchase agreement with two Texas electric cooperatives for the sale of solar energy from the planned 35-MW Lapetus Energy Project in Andrews County, Texas.

Brazos Electric Power Cooperative Inc. serves as the generation and transmission provider for CoServ Electric and will buy energy from the solar facility on behalf of CoServ in the form of SolarBlocks, according to a May 23 news release. "SolarBlocks is a power block purchasing strategy developed by 7x, with the support of the Lapetus buyers, that enables customers to procure contractually guaranteed fixed blocks of energy produced from solar plants," 7x said.

7x Energy, based in Austin, Texas, will own and develop the solar facility. It is expected to begin commercial operations in 2019.
