Pattern Energy confirms takeover interest from third parties

Pattern Energy Group Inc. confirmed that it has received takeover interest from unnamed third parties, following a request by the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada to comment on recent media reports.

The company said Aug. 13 that it has been responding to such inquiries as appropriate, but has not reached any agreement or arrangement for any transaction.

A Bloomberg News report has named Brookfield Asset Management Inc. as a suitor. Brookfield is reportedly looking at combining Pattern Energy with its sponsored company TerraForm Power Inc.

Pattern Energy said it does not plan to make any further announcements relating to takeover speculation unless a disclosure is warranted or required under the law.
