Platte River takes controlling stake in arborist-equipment supplier Sherrill

Platte River Equity, formally known as PRV Management LP, bought a controlling stake in Greensboro, N.C.-based Sherrill Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

The middle-market private equity firm, which made the investment out of its Platte River Equity IV LP fund, said Sherrill is the largest supplier of arborist tools and equipment in North America. Sherrill was backed by Generation Equity Capital.

Bartlit Beck LLP was legal counsel to Platte River, while BMO Capital Markets provided financing for the deal.
