Whole Foods supplier recalls hummus, dips over listeria risk

Pita Pal Foods LP, a unit of Pita Pal Industries Inc., is recalling batches of hummus products over concerns of potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recall includes: Bucee's, Fresh Thyme, Harris Teeter, Hummus Hummus, Lantana, Lidl, Pita Pal, Reasor's, Roundy's, Schnucks and 7-Select. The affected products were made between May 15 and July 11 with best-by dates between July 25 and Jan. 7, 2020.

The items were distributed in Whole Foods Market Inc. stores nationwide and to the United Arab Emirates.

Listeria can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, elderly people and other individuals with weakened immune systems. Pita Pal said no illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall.

The company is urging customers who have purchased the items to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Whole Foods Market is a wholly owned unit of Amazon.com Inc.
