Walt Disney Co. is now the only bidder for most of the assets of 21st Century Fox Inc., after Comcast Corp. decided to bow out of the race, Reuters reported, citing a Comcast statement.
Comcast said that it did not see a "strategic fit" of Fox's assets to the cable company. The Murdoch family prefers to sell its assets to Disney, and a deal could be reached as early as before the end of 2017, according to sources mentioned in the report.
The Fox assets include cable channels FX and National Geographic Channel (US), Twentieth Century Fox Film Company Ltd, the Star network in India and a stake in Sky plc.
