President Donald Trump chose Geoffrey Starks to fill a vacancy on the Federal Communications Commission, Reuters reported, citing a statement from the White House.
If confirmed as an FCC commissioner, Starks will serve for the remainder of a five-year term ending June 30, 2022. He is set to fill the seat occupied by Democrat Mignon Clyburn, who announced in April that she is leaving the commission.
Starks served as assistant bureau chief of the commission's enforcement bureau. His nomination, which is subject to U.S. Senate confirmation, will be considered along with a new term for Republican Commissioner Brendan Carr, according to Reuters.
