Airbus taps Rolls-Royce exec to replace long-time sales chief

Airbus S.A.S appointed Eric Schulz from Rolls-Royce as successor to long-time sales chief, John Leahy, who is retiring after nearly 33 years of service.

Schulz will join Airbus at the end of January 2018, taking over as executive vice president and chief of sales for marketing and contracts for the company's commercial aircraft business.

He has been serving as president for civil aerospace at Rolls-Royce since January 2016.

Airbus said Leahy oversaw the sale of more than 16,000 aircrafts, accounting for 90% of all Airbus jets ever sold. Leahy, who will stay with the company for a few months to ensure a smooth transition, joined the company in 1985 and has been commercial aircraft sales chief since 1994.
