Wal-Mart de México SAB de CV's consolidated sales in January 2018 rose 5.7% year over year to 49.87 billion Mexican pesos, according to the company's monthly sales data reported Feb. 7.
The Mexico-based subsidiary of retailer Walmart Inc. said its total sales in Mexico increased 8.7% year over year to 40.84 billion Mexican pesos, while comparable-store sales rose 7.6%.
In Central America, Walmex's year-over-year sales, on a constant currency basis, fell 6% in January to 9.029 billion Mexican pesos, while comparable sales rose 3%.
The company opened three new stores in Mexico during January, and another three in February.
As of Feb. 7, US$1 was equivalent to 18.63 Mexican pesos.
