CVS Health Corp. said June 14 that it has expanded its safe medication disposal program in Virginia in line with its broader initiative to combat opioid abuse in the U.S.
The pharmaceutical chain said 32 medication disposal units will be installed in CVS Pharmacy locations across the state, in addition to the 64 drug disposal units the company donated to local law enforcement departments in Virginia.
CVS said that nationwide, it has collected more than 350,000 pounds of unwanted medication through its safe medication disposal program.
