Canadian Utilities to build 26-MW cogen power plant in Mexico

Canadian Utilities Ltd. and Ranman Energy are partnering to build the 26-MW La Laguna cogeneration facility near Gómez Palacio, Durango in Mexico.

The project, to be developed at the Chemours Co. Mexicana S de RL de CV's chemical facility, is estimated to cost C$70 million, according to a March 5 news release.

La Laguna will use excess gas and reuse steam generated as by-products of the the host facility's chemical processes to produce electricity and heat. The project is expected to reach commercial operations in the second quarter of 2019.

Ranman Energy is a Mexican enterprise that specializes in developing energy infrastructure projects in Mexico. Canadian Utilities is an ATCO Ltd. company, which is engaged in electricity, pipelines and liquids, structures and logistics, and retail energy businesses.
