Nuclear update: US output shifts higher as Turkey Point 3, DC Cook return

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability rose early Nov. 28 to 92.76%, up from 92.29% on Nov. 27 and still holding above the 92.52% reported on the same day a year ago.

Boosting U.S. output was the return of two reactors. American Electric Power Co. Inc.'s Donald C. Cook 1 plant in Michigan was pegged at 20% early Nov. 28 after being taken offline on Sept. 13 for a refueling outage. NextEra Energy Inc.'s Turkey Point 3 in Florida was warming up at 3% early Nov. 28 after being shut on Nov. 21 for undisclosed reasons.

In addition, Duke Energy Corp.'s Oconee 2 in South Carolina was at 100% power early Nov. 28, rising from 70% on Nov. 27.
