Rockwood Capital sells Watergate office building for $101.5M

Rockwood Capital LLC sold the Watergate office building in Washington, D.C., to an affiliate of Brian Friedman for $101.5 million, the Washington Business Journal reported.

Friedman, the founder of private equity firm Friedman Capital, plans to add restaurants, a fitness center, coworking office space and a Nixon museum, commemorating the property's ties to President Richard Nixon, the report said.

Private real estate firm Rockwood acquired the 214,508-square-foot office building at 2600 Virginia Ave. for approximately $75 million in December 2016.

The property has been marketed by Newmark Knight Frank since April.

The sale is part of a larger wave of commercial properties that have sold or will sell before the start of the District's new fiscal year, the article said.
