Report: Justice Department investigating Wells' wholesale banking unit

The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating Wells Fargo & Co.'s wholesale banking unit, following a report that its staffers allegedly changed information on customer documents, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Justice Department in recent weeks has solicited more information from the bank to investigate whether employees were pressured by the bank's management, resulting in employees improperly changing or adding the information, unnamed sources told the Journal.

A Wells Fargo spokesman, as well as the Justice Department, declined to comment on the matter to the Journal.
