TransCanada launches another open season for C$2.4B NOVA gas pipe expansion

TransCanada Corp. commenced an open season to solicit more binding shipper commitments for about 280 MMcf/d of firm service on the C$2.4 billion expansion of its NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. natural gas pipeline system.

TransCanada recently completed an oversubscribed open season in January for 1.0 Bcf/d of expansion capacity at the Empress/McNeill export delivery point on the system. The company launched the new open season for the same delivery point to respond to strong interest for additional market access, TransCanada said in a March 1 news release. The new open season is for firm service that would begin in November 2021, while firm service on the first open season would commence between November 2020 and April 2021.

The expansion would provide Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin producers with access to local and export markets via an interconnection at TransCanada's Canadian Mainline system.

The new open season is scheduled to close March 15.
