Thailand planning 4 spectrum sales

Thailand's National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission plans to auction a total of 380 MHz across four spectrum bands by 2020, the Bangkok Post reported Jan. 26.

The telecom regulator aims to sell 180 MHz of downlink and uplink bandwidth on the 2,600 MHz frequency this year. The other spectrum to be offered will include 90 MHz on the 1,800 MHz band and 20 MHz on the 850 MHz band by March 2018, and 90 MHz on the 700 MHz band by 2020.

Takorn Tantasith, secretary-general of the NBTC, said the spectrum sales would cater to growing demand for online services as well as the Internet of Things, according to the report.
