Nippon Telegraph & Telephone fiscal Q3 profit climbs 12.2% YOY

Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2015, amounted to ¥79.25 per share, an increase of 16.9% from ¥67.81 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥166.12 billion, an increase of 12.2% from ¥148.03 billion in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 5.4% from 5.3% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew year over year to ¥2.906 trillion from ¥2.809 trillion, and total operating expenses came to ¥2.511 trillion, compared with ¥2.487 trillion in the prior-year period.

Reported net income rose 42.1% on an annual basis to ¥226.75 billion, or ¥108.17 per share, from ¥159.61 billion, or ¥73.12 per share.

As of Feb. 5, US$1 was equivalent to ¥117.16.
