Lotte's hypermarket chain to stop selling cigarettes in 2018

South Korean retail giant Lotte Shopping Co. Ltd.'s hypermarket chain, Lotte Mart, will stop selling cigarettes in 2018 as it aims to offer consumers more healthy products, Yonhap News Agency reported Dec. 14.

Citing Lotte Mart CEO Kim Jong-in, the report added that the decision is part of the company's plan to become more health-oriented. It also seeks to invest in the development of health products.

The hypermarket chain reportedly said cigarette sales make up less than 0.1% of its total revenue.
