Southwest Power Pool names president, CEO

Southwest Power Pool announced Jan. 15 the appointment of Barbara Sugg as president and CEO, effective later in 2020. Sugg is currently SPP's senior vice president of information technology and chief security offer.

Sugg will replace Nick Brown, who previously announced plans to retire in April 2020. Brown has been SPP's president and CEO since 2003.

As Sugg begins her new role, SPP is in the middle of expanding its Western Energy Services offerings in the Western Interconnection, as well as implementing improvements to its markets, transmission-planning functions and tariffs, according to a news release.

A 30-year industry veteran, Sugg joined SPP in 1997 and has been a member of the SPP management team since 1999. She became vice president of information technology in 2010 and chief security officer in 2016.
