Mospec Semiconductor Q1 loss widens 15.3% YOY

Mospec Semiconductor Corp. said its first-quarter normalized net income amounted to a loss of 45 Taiwan cents per share, compared with a loss of 39 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of NT$31.5 million, compared with a loss of NT$27.3 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to negative 61.3% from negative 58.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 9.2% year over year to NT$51.3 million from NT$47.0 million, and total operating expenses rose from the prior-year period to NT$94.3 million from NT$92.8 million.

Reported net income came to a loss of NT$53.3 million, or a loss of 76 cents per share, compared to a loss of NT$44.6 million, or a loss of 63 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
