CNN, Travel Channel place Bourdain tributes on their weekend programming menus

CNN (US) and Travel Channel (US) this weekend are serving up tributes to the late chef and international traveler Anthony Bourdain.

Bourdain, who has shared his journeys about food, people and culture with millions of viewers via "Parts Unknown" on the news network over the past five years, and on Travel Channel via "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" from 2005 to 2012, took his own life. The 61-year-old, on assignment in Strasbourg, France, for an installment of "Parts Unknown" was found dead in his hotel room June 8.

Turner Broadcasting System Inc.'s CNN, whose on-air personalities have been commiserating about their colleague and friend while pointing viewers to suicide prevention organizations throughout the day, will air a tribute "Remembering Anthony Bourdain" on Friday at 10 p.m. ET. On June 9, CNN will air a number of "Parts Unknown" episodes, beginning at 6 p.m.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will provide a special introduction to the regularly scheduled sixth episode of the 11th season of "Parts Unknown," which took Bourdain to Berlin, on June 10 at 9 p.m. It will be followed by a repeat of "Remembering Anthony Bourdain" at 10 p.m.

The show has won five prime-time Emmys and received a Peabody in 2013.

Travel Channel will air a 12-hour marathon of "No Reservations" episodes beginning at 7 a.m. on June 10. That series ran for nine seasons and earned a pair of Emmys.
