Next Gen TV: A new advertising frontier for broadcasters

A new broadcast standard, known as Next Gen TV, is expected to bring a bevy of benefits to local TV station owners, though the timing of the rollout and expected uptake remain uncertain. The next-generation broadcast standard ATSC 3.0, featuring IP transport that merges broadcast and broadband, promises to offer better picture quality via Ultra HD TV, high-dynamic-range signals and enhanced audio.

Young adults, women key demo for Philo OTT streaming service

Six months after its launch, streaming provider Philo Inc. is attracting young consumers and building a subscriber base skewing toward women. Michael Keyserling, head of content and distribution partnerships at Philo, said at a conference that women currently comprise 60% of the streaming service provider's customer base.

Apple Inc. unveiled iOS 12, its next-generation mobile operating system, with expanded Siri capabilities, new augmented reality tools, app time-tracking tools and other initiatives at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference. The iOS 12, which will be released as a free update later this year, focuses heavily on improving the speed and performance of older iPhones and iPads.
