Ralph Lauren launches online store in China

Ralph Lauren Corp. launched its first online store in China, the New York-based fashion company said Sept. 5.

Ralph Lauren's Chinese e-commerce site, www.ralphlauren.cn, features the retailer's apparel brands, including Purple Label and Polo, as well as footwear, handbags, luggage and small leather goods.

Customers can log in using Tencent Holdings Ltd.'s WeChat social media and mobile payment platform. It also accepts payments made via WeChat and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s Alipay.

Ralph Lauren offers same-day delivery with complimentary gift wrapping and customized gift cards for shoppers in Shanghai.

The retailer also warned customers not to purchase Ralph Lauren-branded products from individuals, internet auctions or flea markets as they may be counterfeit or stolen.

In June, the company reached a $47,000 settlement deal with four Chinese companies for infringement of its trademarks in China.
