Report: Ghana central bank governor to step down

Abdul Nashiru Issahaku stepped down as governor of Ghana's central bank for personal reasons, Joy Business reported March 29.

The Bank of Ghana governor, who was appointed by former President John Mahama and whose job came under scrutiny after the New Patriotic Party won the 2016 presidential elections, told the publication that he and the government decided earlier in March that he should resign.

Ernest Addison, a former head of research at the Ghanaian central bank who left for the African Development Bank in 2012, is expected to succeed Issahaku after April 1, according to the report.
