Walt Disney Co. will not air Netflix Inc. ads across its TV networks, The Wall Street Journal reported Oct. 4, citing people with the knowledge of the matter.
When deciding which companies to continue advertising relationships with, Disney considered if it had a mutual business or advertising relationship with the companies, according to one of the sources. Netflix does not show ads in its programs.
Disney is set to launch its competing video streaming service, Disney+, on Nov. 12.
Disney has also locked horns with Amazon.com Inc. over terms for carrying Disney apps on Amazon's Fire TV devices, according to an Oct. 3 report by the Journal.
Amazon wants the right to sell a significant percentage of the ad space on Disney apps, which Disney has resisted, according to people familiar with the situation.
