Collectors Universe fiscal Q2 profit climbs 25.3% YOY

Collectors Universe Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, amounted to 19 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 18 cents per share.

EPS climbed 20.9% year over year from 16 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $1.7 million, an increase of 25.3% from $1.3 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 11.7% from 9.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased on an annual basis to $14.1 million from $13.6 million, and total operating expenses came to $11.5 million, compared with $11.5 million in the year-earlier period.

Reported net income grew 38.1% from the prior-year period to $1.7 million, or 20 cents per share, from $1.2 million, or 15 cents per share.
