Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s fresh food supply chain platform Win-Chain is partnering with Norwegian seafood company Marine Harvest ASA to optimize salmon distribution in China.
Win-Chain and Marine Harvest signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on developing a more efficient salmon supply chain, according to an Oct. 18 post on the Chinese e-commerce giant's company news site Alizila.
They also intend to offer fresh chilled salmon to Chinese consumers from a planned Marine Harvest processing plant in Shanghai, meeting growing demand for fresh seafood products in the country.
In addition, Win-Chain will provide Marine Harvest with support in branding, communications and product development. The sourcing platform is linked to Alibaba's online and offline shopping channels.
